Lea County Parents Face Severe Child Abuse Charges Following Discovery of 29 Fractures in Infant

Tyler Rey Janousek and Trenaty Kaylyn Lewis, both 25, are in custody following the discovery of extensive physical trauma inflicted upon their six-week-old daughter. The Lea County Sheriff’s Office initiated an investigation on March 11 after medical professionals reported that the infant arrived at a local facility with multiple broken ribs. Subsequent examinations revealed at least 29 distinct fractures in various stages of healing, leading doctors to conclude that the child had been subjected to repeated, violent abuse. The infant was transferred to a hospital in Lubbock, Texas, for specialized treatment and has since been placed in protective custody.

Authorities officially arrested the couple on March 21 after gathering sufficient evidence to link them to the injuries. Janousek faces three counts of first-degree child abuse, while Lewis is charged with three counts of first-degree child abuse along with an additional count of accessory to child abuse or abandonment. Law enforcement officials describe the case as an active investigation, noting that the severity of the injuries points to a pattern of recurrent trauma. The legal proceedings highlight the ongoing efforts of local authorities to address and prosecute severe cases of child endangerment within the region.
