Florida Authorities Launch Investigation Into Mysterious Fatal Fall of Bartow Resident
Law enforcement officials in Polk County are investigating the suspicious death of 56-year-old Jeffrey Blevins, who was discovered unresponsive outside his Bartow apartment late Thursday night. The incident began shortly after 11 p.m. while Blevins was speaking with his mother over the phone. During the conversation, his mother reportedly heard him collapse suddenly and fall to the ground. Concerned by his lack of response, she contacted his sister, who resided in the same apartment complex, and urged her to check on him immediately.
Upon arriving at the scene, the sister discovered Blevins lying in a pool of blood and contacted emergency services. Paramedics transported him to Bartow Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd has categorized the death as violent, prompting the Bartow Police Department to request additional investigative support from the sheriff's office. While investigators are still in the early stages of gathering evidence, they noted that Blevins had a limited criminal history consisting of a domestic violence arrest three decades ago and a minor traffic violation. Authorities have not yet identified a suspect or determined the exact cause of the fatal injuries, but they intend to release further details as the inquiry progresses.
