Connecticut Man Arrested for Sexual Assault Following Death of 12-Year-Old Stepdaughter

Authorities in Enfield, Connecticut, have arrested 39-year-old Anthony Federline on charges of sexual assault and risk of injury to a child following the death of his 12-year-old stepdaughter, Eve Rogers. The young girl was discovered unresponsive in her bedroom on March 18 by her mother, who forced entry into the room after receiving no response. Emergency responders arrived shortly thereafter and pronounced the child dead at the scene. While a formal cause of death remains under investigation, police initiated a comprehensive inquiry that included DNA collection from all household members.

Evidence recovered from the victim’s body during the investigation led authorities to perform a sexual assault examination. Forensic analysis subsequently matched DNA samples taken from the scene to Anthony Federline. Despite these serious charges, the stepfather has not been accused of direct involvement in the girl's death at this time. He is currently being held on a $1 million bond.

The victim’s mother has expressed shock regarding the allegations, stating she was entirely unaware of the situation and is cooperating with law enforcement as the legal process continues. In the wake of the arrest, the local school district confirmed that Federline, who worked as a bus driver, has been terminated from his position. Officials noted that he had previously cleared a standard criminal background check. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the child's death remains active.
