Florida Teen Allegedly Murders Neighbor and Collects Blood Samples in Grisly Crime
Nineteen-year-old Lucas Jones faces serious charges after allegedly murdering his neighbor, 28-year-old Colie Daniel, in a calculated attack at his Indialantic, Florida, home. Investigators report that Jones, who allegedly targeted Daniel because of his status as a registered sex offender, used a baseball bat to commit the killing before dismembering the body with various tools. According to court documents, Jones reportedly confessed to his girlfriend that he collected the victim's blood on microscope slides, mirroring the behavior of a fictional serial killer.
The investigation began after Daniel’s parents tracked his phone to Jones’ residence on March 20. Although police responded to the scene, they were unable to enter the home at that time, allowing Jones to continue cleaning the crime scene. Authorities later discovered partial remains in Palm Bay after vultures were seen circling abandoned luggage. Evidence suggests Jones transported the victim's body parts in suitcases and storage totes shortly after law enforcement initially cleared his property. The girlfriend eventually provided testimony detailing the gruesome cleanup process, noting signs of violence throughout the residence. Jones remains in custody as officials continue to process the evidence gathered from his home and the disposal site.
