Maine Man Faces Murder Charges Following Gruesome Discovery at Brunswick Property
A 45-year-old Brunswick man remains in custody without bail after allegedly murdering his neighbor in a violent attack that concluded with the dismemberment of the victim. Authorities arrested Tanner Dostie on April 10 following a disturbance at a local Alcoholics Anonymous meeting, where witnesses reported erratic behavior. Upon his apprehension, Dostie reportedly confessed to killing 61-year-old Dennis Blasens, a neighbor with whom he frequently collaborated on vehicle repairs.
Court documents detail a harrowing scene at the suspect’s residence, where investigators discovered human remains inside a fire pit. According to the arrest affidavit, Dostie admitted to assaulting the victim with a baseball bat and a knife before using a chain saw to dismember the body. The suspect allegedly claimed he was under the influence of psychedelic mushrooms during the incident and cited a desire to "free" his wife as a motive for the homicide. While the victim’s spouse noted ongoing financial disputes regarding truck parts, Dostie expressed a sense of remorse during his initial police interview. He currently faces a murder charge and awaits further court proceedings.
