Pennsylvania Man Sentenced to Three Life Terms for Horrific Family Murders
A 61-year-old man has been sentenced to three consecutive life terms in prison without parole for the brutal murders of a couple and their 1-year-old son. Jose Rodriguez pleaded guilty to three counts of first-degree murder, ending a case marked by shocking violence and emotional turmoil. The victims were identified as Geraldina Peguero-Mancebo, 31, her husband Junior Cabrera-Colon, also 31, and their infant son Jeyden Junior Peguero, who was just one year old.
Rodriguez’s actions unfolded over two days in September 2025. On the first day, he shot Geraldina Peguero-Mancebo in the head after becoming enraged when she refused to leave her husband for him. He then drove their son to a lake and drowned him by throwing him into the water. The following day, Rodriguez and Junior Cabrera-Colon got into a physical altercation, which ended with Rodriguez fatally shooting the father.
The case was brought to light after Rodriguez was charged with murder in both deaths. District Attorney John Adams described the boy’s death as particularly horrific, emphasizing that he was left to die in an algae-filled pond. During the court proceedings, family members, including some who traveled from the Dominican Republic, shared emotional victim impact statements. Despite being given the opportunity to speak, Rodriguez remained silent and did not express remorse.
The judge ultimately handed down three consecutive life sentences without parole, along with a restitution order. Authorities expressed relief that justice had been served, though they acknowledged the pain of such a tragic loss could never be fully healed. This case highlights the devastating consequences of unchecked anger and the irreversible impact of violent crime on families and communities.
