FAA Selects Palantir, Thales, and Air Space Intelligence for AI-Driven Air Traffic Innovation
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has selected Palantir Technologies, Thales, and Air Space Intelligence to develop an advanced AI tool aimed at modernizing the nation's outdated air traffic control system. This initiative seeks to enhance safety, reduce congestion, and minimize technology outages. The FAA has allocated $12.5 billion for this project but anticipates requiring an additional $20 billion to complete it.
Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy emphasized the transformative potential of the AI tool during a Washington conference. He highlighted its ability to optimize flight schedules and alleviate air traffic congestion, while also aiding controllers in preventing close plane encounters. This technology represents a significant step toward streamlining air traffic management and ensuring safer skies.
