Retired Florida Woman Killed by Drunk Neighbor in Hit-and-Run While Collecting Mail

A 77-year-old retired nurse from Bradenton, Florida, was tragically killed while retrieving her mail when a drunk neighbor struck her with his vehicle in her own front yard. The suspect, identified as Jordan Beard, 40, allegedly drove off the road and hit Vicki Noon on Friday afternoon, fleeing the scene afterward. Police have charged Beard with DUI manslaughter, leaving the scene of a crash involving death, and tampering with evidence.

According to the Bradenton Police Department, witnesses reported seeing a gold sedan speeding away from the crash site. Authorities conducted a neighborhood search for security footage and identified the vehicle at a nearby residence within walking distance of Noon’s home. Beard was found at that location and cooperated with detectives during the investigation. He has since been released on bond and is awaiting his next court appearance.

Noon, described as a kind and community-oriented woman, resided in a quiet neighborhood populated by retirees. Her family and neighbors expressed shock and grief over her senseless death, calling it a “stolen” retirement. Noon’s daughter shared the emotional toll of losing her mother, stating, “It was stolen from her, my father, and my children.”

The incident has left the local community in mourning, highlighting the dangers of drunk driving and the tragic consequences that can unfold even in quiet, familiar settings. Authorities continue to investigate the case as they work toward justice for Noon and her family.
