Georgia Man Receives Life Sentence Following Double Homicide and Violent Assault Spree
Javier Aragon Ruiz, a 55-year-old Georgia resident, received a sentence of life in prison with the possibility of parole on Tuesday after pleading guilty to a string of violent crimes committed in December 2025. The charges include two counts of malice murder, two counts of felony murder, and multiple counts of aggravated assault and weapons violations. The incident began when Ruiz intercepted 28-year-old Javier Martinez and 17-year-old Jesua Valesca Garcia Perez as they arrived at the teenager’s home. After forcing his way into their vehicle, Ruiz shot and killed both victims before traveling to the victims' residence to continue his assault.
At the apartment, Ruiz confronted the teenager’s sister, Soemia Garcia Perez, and her boyfriend, Jace Austin Corley. When the sister attempted to flee, Ruiz attacked Corley with a knife, inflicting injuries before eventually fleeing the state. Law enforcement officials apprehended Ruiz in Tennessee following a traffic stop related to a DUI. Prosecutors noted that the motive stemmed from a strained relationship involving the teenager’s mother, who had previously prohibited contact between the victim and the defendant. District Attorney Patsy Austin-Gatson expressed hope that the conviction provides a measure of closure for the grieving families. Ruiz will remain incarcerated for at least 30 years before becoming eligible for parole consideration.
