Florida Man Held Without Bond After Allegedly Shooting Girlfriend, Son, and Dog During Family Pool Party

A 34-year-old man from Sarasota, Florida, has been arrested without bond following a tragic shooting incident that left his girlfriend, their six-year-old son, and the family dog dead. The fatal shootings occurred on May 23 at the home of Nicholas Novickis' mother, where the family had gathered for a day of swimming in her pool. According to law enforcement officials, deputies were called to the scene after receiving reports of a shooting.

During a press conference, representatives from the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office revealed that Novickis’ mother was awakened by the sound of breaking glass and witnessed her son allegedly shoot his young son while he was swimming in the pool. She then contacted emergency services and reportedly retrieved a shotgun from him before he could cause further harm. The mother claims she saw Allie Novickis, 34, already deceased inside the house when she made the initial call to 911.

The shooting left one child, a husky family dog, and Allie Novickis dead at the scene. Nicholas Novickis was apprehended in the kitchen of his mother's home without incident by law enforcement officials. He faces two counts of second-degree murder and one count of animal cruelty as part of the ongoing investigation.

In an initial interview with detectives, Novickis expressed remorse for the tragic events that unfolded but provided no further details about his actions or motivations. The case has shocked the local community and raised questions about the sudden nature of such violent acts within otherwise peaceful family settings.
