Suspect in Triple Homicide Arrested After Hiding in Cave for Days

A 36-year-old man named Jacob Baker was apprehended by police following an extensive search that lasted several days. Authorities discovered Baker hiding inside a small cave after surveillance footage and witness accounts led them to the location near Puna, Hawaii. The arrest came as part of an investigation into three murders that occurred over two consecutive days in May.

On May 25, the body of 69-year-old Robert Shine was found with no apparent signs of foul play at first but later determined to be a homicide by strangulation. The next day, police discovered another deceased individual whose identity has yet to be released pending notification of family members. At a separate property, the body of 79-year-old John Carse was also found; an autopsy revealed he died from sharp force trauma.

Court documents indicate that Baker had been involved in approximately 20 cases over the past two decades and had restraining orders filed against him by two women shortly before these murders. One woman alleged that Baker threatened her life, suggesting a pattern of violent behavior leading up to the recent homicides.
