USS Carl Vinson Honored with Top Battle Effectiveness Award for Exceptional Deployment

The USS Carl Vinson has been awarded the prestigious Battle “E” award by the U.S. Navy for demonstrating superior performance during its nine-month deployment in 2025. This accolade recognizes the carrier's exceptional proficiency and effectiveness across various operations, inspections, certifications, assessments, and training events. The Nimitz-class aircraft carrier completed a rigorous mission that included support for Operation Rough Rider, a significant military campaign against Iran-backed Houthi rebels.

During its deployment, which spanned multiple fleet areas including the U.S. 3rd, 5th, and 7th Fleet regions, the Carl Vinson conducted over 10,000 sorties and logged more than 23,000 flight hours while sailing nearly 275,000 nautical miles. The commanding officer, Capt. Joshua Wenker, praised his crew's perseverance and dedication in executing a wide range of missions across the Western Pacific and Middle East regions.

In addition to the Battle “E” recognition, eleven departments aboard the Carl Vinson received distinction for their outstanding performance, with the vessel also earning awards for Carrier Maintenance and Environment Protection and Energy Conservation. The USS Carl Vinson serves as the flagship of Carrier Strike Group 1, a vital component in maintaining U.S. naval dominance globally.
