Man Threatens Trump with Pipe Bomb While Driving Around North Carolina

A 33-year-old man from Raleigh, North Carolina, has been accused of making multiple threatening statements against President Donald Trump online and in person. Christopher Key-Torrion Carnes posted videos on his Facebook account where he threatened to kill the president and boasted about having a pipe bomb in his car. In one video recorded on May 12, Carnes stated, "I'm right here at Walmart," while driving around North Carolina with what he claimed were explosive materials.

According to federal prosecutors, Carnes repeatedly referenced Operation Epic Fury, a joint U.S.-Israel military operation targeting Iran, and warned Trump about his intentions. He openly shared personal information such as his birthdate and Social Security number's last four digits to emphasize his seriousness. On June 6, he posted an eight-minute video showing him exiting his car with what appeared to be a pipe bomb in the trunk.

Carnes was tracked down on May 18 by law enforcement after his threatening statements gained national attention. During this encounter, Carnes admitted to living in his vehicle and encouraged authorities to locate it if they wanted to find him. On June 10, he turned himself in to police, claiming there were explosive materials in his car that he threatened to use against law enforcement.

The incident highlights the growing concern over online threats directed at political figures and the potential for such rhetoric to escalate into real-world dangers. Law enforcement agencies are increasingly vigilant about monitoring social media platforms for any signs of imminent violence or threats against public officials, especially during times of heightened political tension.
