Florida Man Arrested for Forcing Teenage Girl into Clothes Dryer After She Called 911

Christopher Michael Veit, a 53-year-old man from Key Largo, Florida, is currently in custody after being charged with kidnapping and other serious offenses following an incident involving a teenage girl. According to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office, deputies were called to Veit's home on Sunday morning when the teenager contacted emergency services claiming she was being held against her will.

Upon arrival at around noon, law enforcement discovered the young girl trapped inside a clothes dryer at Veit’s residence. The victim reported that Veit had physically restrained her and forced her into the appliance after she attempted to leave and make a 911 call. Police also noted that Veit confiscated the teenager's phone when she expressed her desire to go home.

Medical evaluations revealed no life-threatening injuries to the girl, but investigators found evidence of prolonged sexual activity between Veit and the minor. Additionally, several sheets of counterfeit currency were discovered during the search, leading authorities to notify the U.S. Secret Service for further investigation into potential financial crimes.

The Monroe County Sheriff's Office has charged Veit with kidnapping by false imprisonment, interference with child custody, and unlawful sexual activity with a minor. He is being held on $650,000 bond, and his next court appearance is scheduled for August 4th. The victim was released into the care of family members after receiving medical attention at a local hospital, while the Florida Department of Children and Families has been informed about the case to ensure appropriate support services are provided.
