Oregon Man Sentenced to 22 Years for Home Invasion and Attempted Rape of Mother Holding Baby

A 43-year-old man named Judson Defir has been sentenced to 22 years in prison after he broke into a home on March 15, attempting to rape a woman while she was holding her 10-month-old baby. The attack occurred when the victim's husband was working in their yard. Upon entering the house, Defir said, "Honey, I’m here," before grabbing the woman and pulling her out of the room where her children were present. He forced her into a guest bedroom, exerting pressure on the baby as he attempted to rape her while she held onto the child.

The victim managed to escape when Defir briefly loosened his grip. She barricaded herself and her children in another room by pushing a bookshelf against the door and screamed for help from the balcony. While attempting to break into this new location, Defir assaulted two other women and exposed himself publicly before being apprehended by police who had received multiple reports of assault in the area.

Defir pleaded guilty to one count of first-degree sexual abuse and no contest to additional charges including kidnapping, attempted rape, and public indecency. His defense team argued that he was under the influence of methamphetamine at the time of the attacks and does not remember much from that day. During his sentencing hearing on June 18, Defir expressed remorse for his actions but acknowledged that he could only change his future behavior moving forward.

The case highlights the severe consequences faced by those who commit violent crimes against women and children, emphasizing the importance of community vigilance and swift justice in such incidents.
