Man Accused of Assaulting Girlfriend and Threatening Baby in Washington D.C. Apartment
A 21-year-old man identified as Victor Battle Jr. is facing multiple charges after allegedly breaking into his girlfriend's apartment in the 1300 block of Shepherd Street, Northwest in Washington, D.C., on Thursday evening. According to police reports, Battle forcibly entered the residence by kicking down the front door when the victim tried to open it after hearing a knock.
Inside, Battle reportedly assaulted his partner and threatened their baby daughter, who was hospitalized as a result of the incident. The victim attempted to flee with her child into another room but Battle managed to break through that door as well. He then allegedly punched his girlfriend in the face and ribs before grabbing the infant by the neck, causing her to lose consciousness due to the risk of grave bodily harm.
A neighbor intervened during the assault, only to be threatened by Battle who said, "It's alright I'll be back with a gun to kill y'all." The victim promptly called 911 and emergency services arrived at the scene shortly after. Paramedics transported the baby to a local hospital for medical attention while officers apprehended Battle.
Following his arrest, Battle was taken to a hospital where he reportedly damaged property and physically assaulted an officer before being transferred to jail. His next court appearance has not yet been scheduled. This case highlights the severe consequences of domestic violence incidents involving children.
