US Deploys Advanced Precision Strike Missiles in Operations Against Iran

The United States military has reportedly utilized its new Precision Strike Missile (PrSM) short-range ballistic missiles in recent operations targeting Iran, marking the weapon system's first combat deployment. This significant development comes approximately two years after the PrSM began entering service. The missile offers a considerably greater range than its predecessor, the Army Tactical Missile System (ATACMS), thereby expanding the potential target areas for American forces.

U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) released a video montage titled "First 24 hours of Operation Epic Fury," documenting the initial phase of ongoing U.S.-Israeli operations against Iran. This montage includes an image clearly depicting a PrSM launch from an M142 High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS) launcher. Defense and security columnist Colby Badhwar was among the first to identify the PrSM in the CENTCOM footage, distinguishing it from ATACMS by its unique tail fin configuration and the two-cell ammunition pod visible on the M142 launcher, contrasting with ATACMS's single-missile pods.
