American in Bahrain Describes Relentless Drone and Missile Barrage Following US-Israeli Strikes

Iranian drones and missiles have targeted facilities in Bahrain for several days, beginning approximately two hours after initial US and Israeli strikes on Tehran. An American connected to the US military base in Bahrain described the attacks as "relentless," with drones sounding like "lawnmowers or mopeds" directly overhead. The headquarters of US Naval Forces Central Command at Naval Support Activity Bahrain was a primary target, alongside residential buildings and the Crowne Plaza hotel, a frequent venue for US military and embassy events.

The attacks extended to Kuwait, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia, all nations hosting US military personnel and facilities, and continued through Sunday and Monday. While the Navy base in Bahrain was largely empty due to a prior exercise, an authorized departure for dependents was not issued until an hour after the initial strikes on Iran, meaning families were still present. Bahraini airspace is now closed, and all civilian flights are suspended, with the US embassy advising American citizens to avoid hotels in Manama due to potential targeting.

The American source, who lives near the base but outside the evacuated Juffair district, relocated due to the constant barrage of sirens, missile impacts, and drone activity. The US embassy issued a warning on March 2, stating that "terrorist groups continue plotting possible attacks in Bahrain" and may strike with little to no warning. Residents in Bahrain are receiving a continuous stream of missile warnings, with drones often accompanying these alerts in waves, keeping everyone on high alert.
