Three U.S. Soldiers Killed in Iranian Attack on Jordanian Base

The Pentagon confirmed that three American soldiers were killed during an attack by Iran on July 17 at Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan. The victims include Army Sgt. Angel S. Rampersad, 28, from Ozone Park, New York, who was initially listed as missing after the assault but has since been updated to "Duty Status–Whereabouts Unknown and is believed to be deceased." Two other soldiers, Pvt. Isabella Gonzales, 19, also from Texas, and 1st Lt. Tyler James Feehan, 25, were confirmed dead in the attack.

The Pentagon stated that Rampersad's identity was still under confirmation by the Armed Forces Medical Examiner through fingerprints, dental records, or DNA analysis. She was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 57th Air Defense Artillery Regiment at Ansbach, Germany. Her commanding general, Brig. Gen. Glenn Henke of the 10th Army Air and Missile Defense Command, expressed deep condolences to her family and colleagues.

The attack on Muwaffaq Salti Air Base was part of a broader series of strikes by Iran targeting installations in the Middle East used by American troops. This escalation followed days of reciprocal military actions between the U.S. and Iran, reflecting heightened tensions in the region.
