Missouri Man Accused of Shooting and Killing Girlfriend in Front of Children

A 43-year-old man from Missouri is under arrest for allegedly shooting and killing his girlfriend in front of her children. Antwon Shirley was charged with second-degree murder, armed criminal action, burglary, unlawful possession of a firearm, and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child following the incident that occurred on August 1st.

The tragic event took place at a residence on Agnes Avenue in Kansas City's North Town Fork Creek neighborhood. According to police reports, Shirley entered the house around 7 a.m., where he shot Nevada N. Mosley, a 38-year-old woman, twice before she was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.

Evidence collected by investigators included shell casings and paperwork belonging to both Shirley and Mosley found in the bedroom where the shooting took place. Surveillance footage showed Shirley's vehicle parked outside the residence, and the door to the bedroom had been kicked in, indicating forced entry.

Three juvenile witnesses at the scene identified Shirley as the perpetrator. One child reported hearing a clicking sound before shots were fired and saw Shirley aiming his gun at Mosley. Another witness stated that Mosley and Shirley "hadn't been getting along" recently, with Shirley described as being very jealous of their relationship. This tension reportedly escalated when Mosley asked for her house keys back from Shirley.

Following the shooting, one of Shirley's relatives contacted police after he allegedly admitted to having committed a serious crime. He claimed that he had "snapped" and shot Mosley. Despite his admission, Shirley attempted to evade capture by disposing of his cellphone and getting rid of a vehicle registered in his name before surrendering to authorities on August 2nd.

Shirley is currently being held at the Jackson County Detention Center with no bond set for release. He will appear in court for a preliminary hearing scheduled for September 2nd, where further details about the case are expected to be discussed.
