Teen Accused of Manslaughter After Handling Gun in Bed Kills 4-Year-Old Boy

An 18-year-old Florida man named Brandon Sir Neveah McCloud is facing manslaughter charges after a fatal shooting incident that occurred on July 17 at the Stella West Apartments in Orlando. According to police reports, McCloud was handling a gun while lying in bed when it discharged, striking and fatally wounding a 4-year-old boy named Kayden Pearson.

The tragic event unfolded around 11:30 a.m., prompting an immediate response from law enforcement. Upon arrival at the scene, officers found Kayden's body being carried by a woman through the parking lot, en route to medical assistance. Despite efforts by paramedics and emergency responders, Kayden was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the hospital.

Initial investigations revealed significant evidence within the apartment where the shooting took place. Bloodstains were noted in both the living room and bedroom areas, alongside a spent shell casing discovered in the trash. These findings prompted further inquiries into McCloud's involvement in the incident.

He claimed he was returning from a store with his girlfriend when they heard a gunshot and found Kayden injured. Investigators discovered a video showing him smoking marijuana approximately 75 minutes before the incident, suggesting possible impairment at the time of the shooting. More damning was a subsequent Google search query on his phone for "how to get gunpowder off you," conducted shortly after the fatal discharge.

This search history indicated that McCloud's immediate concern post-shooting was how to remove evidence rather than seeking medical help for Kayden, further implicating him in an attempt to cover up his actions. Police concluded that McCloud’s reckless handling of a loaded firearm directly caused Kayden’s death and arrested him on Wednesday without bond.
