Majority of Americans Think Government Hides UFO Data; Nearly Four in Ten Believe Some Are Aliens

A new Gallup poll reveals that 78% of American adults believe the government is withholding information about unidentified flying objects (UFOs), while nearly four in ten Americans think some UFO sightings are indeed extraterrestrial. The survey, conducted among a nationally representative sample, found significant public skepticism regarding official explanations for mysterious aerial phenomena.

According to the poll, 37% of respondents hold the belief that at least some UFO encounters involve non-human entities or aliens. This view is more prevalent among women, with 41% of female participants expressing this opinion compared to 35% of men. Educational background and political affiliation also play a role in shaping these beliefs, though differences are relatively minor. Among college graduates and those without degrees, similar percentages (35% and 38%, respectively) believe that some UFOs have an alien origin.

The poll further breaks down the data by party affiliation, showing that Democrats, Independents, and Republicans all exhibit comparable levels of skepticism about official government narratives on UFOs. Specifically, 35% of Democrats, 39% of Independents, and 39% of Republicans believe some UFO sightings are alien in nature.

President Donald Trump, who has previously expressed interest in the topic of extraterrestrial life and UFOs, responded to the poll's findings by emphasizing the need for transparency. "The American people deserve access to all available information," he stated during a press conference at the White House. "We must address these concerns openly and honestly."

Despite the high level of public skepticism, official government agencies have been cautious about confirming or denying extraterrestrial origins for UFO sightings. The Pentagon's Unidentified Aerial Phenomena Task Force (UAPTF), established in 2021 to investigate such incidents, has released limited data but remains tight-lipped on many details.

The poll also indicates that nearly half of Americans (49%) believe UFOs have a human or natural origin. This suggests a significant portion of the population is open to explanations rooted in conventional science rather than extraterrestrial hypotheses.

As public interest and concern continue to grow, pressure mounts on government officials to provide more comprehensive information about UFO sightings and encounters. The findings underscore the need for greater transparency and thorough investigation into these phenomena, potentially leading to policy changes that could impact national security and scientific research initiatives.
