Georgia Mother Arrested After Allegedly Assaulting Child at Crowded Festival

A Georgia mother faces charges of cruelty to children following an incident at a crowded Mardi Gras festival in Evans. Jordyn Whitlaw, 34, was reportedly seen by multiple witnesses slamming her 5-year-old daughter into a chain-link fence at Evans Towne Center Park over the weekend. Witnesses described Whitlaw grabbing the girl by the neck and hair, then forcing her face into the fence during the altercation.

According to witness accounts, Whitlaw was yelling at her daughter before throwing her into the fence. When the child began crying, Whitlaw allegedly grabbed her by the ears and continued screaming. One witness intervened, prompting Whitlaw to respond, "that's my daughter. I can do what I want." Deputies located Whitlaw and the child, who displayed an abrasion on her neck. The girl is now in her father's custody, and a report has been filed with child protective services.
