Florida Man Pleads Guilty to Massacre of Teen Daughter and Three Others

A 40-year-old man from Florida has admitted to the premeditated murder of four people, including his teenage daughter. Domenico C. Gigante appeared in court on Thursday to plead guilty to four counts of first-degree premeditated murder and one count of armed burglary with a firearm inflicting death. The killings took place at the home where his daughter lived with her mother and their new family.

According to the 18th Judicial Circuit State Attorney's Office, Gigante broke into the residence on March 1, 2023, after expressing frustration over his strained relationship with his teenage daughter. Surveillance footage captured him leaving his Rockledge home around midnight with what appeared to be a firearm before entering the victim's house shortly afterward.

Inside the home, investigators found two adults and an elderly woman dead from gunshot wounds. The teenaged girl was also killed but in a different room of the house. Two children who survived the attack called for help after Gigante fled the scene. Authorities later identified him as a suspect and arrested him near Spanish Fort, Alabama, where they recovered a handgun matching the weapon used in the killings.

During his plea hearing, Gigante expressed remorse for his actions, acknowledging that what he did was "evil and wrong." He waived his right to a jury trial and agreed to accept responsibility for his crimes. The State Attorney's Office is now seeking the death penalty against Gigante due to the nature of the murders and the fact they occurred during an armed burglary.

Circuit Judge Laura Moody will make the final decision on whether to impose the death sentence at a hearing scheduled for late October or early November. The case highlights the devastating consequences of unresolved family conflicts and underscores the importance of addressing mental health issues and domestic tensions before they escalate into violence.
