Fiancee Witnesses Fatal Shooting During Morning Return Home Over Road Rage Dispute

A woman in Delaware witnessed the fatal shooting of her fiancé early Sunday morning as they returned home with their son. According to local authorities, Hector Sanchez, 31, was charged with first-degree murder and possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony for allegedly killing Donald Nave, 32.

The incident occurred around 8:30 AM on South Cleveland Avenue in Wilmington when Chelsea Cooke, Nave's fiancée, arrived at their home. As she approached the house with her son, Sanchez reportedly ran up behind Nave and shot him multiple times before fleeing the scene. First responders rushed Nave to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Detectives from the New Castle County Division of Police quickly identified Sanchez as a possible suspect after running the license plate of his Chevrolet Sonic. The vehicle had been involved in a road rage incident with Nave earlier that month, and Cooke confirmed that Sanchez had harassed her fiancé leading up to the shooting. Despite these details, the specifics of their previous altercation remain unclear.

Sanchez was apprehended later Sunday evening when police executed a warrant at his home and seized evidence connecting him to the crime. He is currently being held in Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $1 million cash bail.

The couple shared two children together, with another child on the way. Cooke expressed her anger towards Sanchez, stating that she "can't wait to see [him] under the jail" for his actions.
