Disturbing Details Emerge in Idaho Child Abduction Case

Grim testimony unfolded in a Payette, Idaho courtroom during the preliminary hearing for Stacey Wondra, who faces charges including murder and kidnapping in connection with the disappearance of 5-year-old Michael Vaughan. Prosecutors presented a police interview with Wondra from November 2022, where he recounted the day Michael vanished in July 2021. Wondra claims his wife, Sarah Wondra, abducted the child, and he denied any involvement in the initial taking or planning.

During the interview, Stacey Wondra described hearing Michael Vaughan scream, "I want my mom, I want my mommy," while the child was being duct-taped by his wife and two roommates. He stated he was in a separate room but could hear the sounds of the tape. Wondra told detectives he suggested calling authorities after his wife brought the child home, but she allegedly ignored his advice. He further claimed his wife blamed him for their financial situation, suggesting a roommate would "get a hold of this person to see if he would buy a kid."

The last time Stacey Wondra claims to have seen Michael, the child was reportedly placed inside a duffel bag amidst layers of clothing. Michael Vaughan's body has not yet been recovered. Stacey Wondra reportedly vomited during the police interview, attributing it to the stress of recounting the events.
