Utah Woman Found Deceased in Storage Unit, Husband Named Person of Interest in Homicide
Authorities in Saratoga Springs, Utah, are investigating the death of 43-year-old Jeusselem Elieth Genes, whose body was discovered in a storage unit days after she and her husband, 57-year-old Alvaro Jose Urbina Rojas, were reported missing. Rojas is currently identified as a "person of interest" in the homicide case. The couple disappeared on February 26 after leaving their home, with Rojas reportedly taking Genes to work, though she never arrived. Family members, initially concerned about an ICE detention, later informed police of recent discussions about divorce between the couple, who had been married for 19 years and had two children.
The investigation intensified after Genes and Rojas failed to return home, leading family members to file a missing persons report. Cellphone data indicated Genes' phone was off, while Rojas's last known location "pinged" in Draper, Utah. Their 2005 gray Toyota Sequoia was sighted in Las Vegas, Nevada, and subsequent credit card activity was traced to California. A search warrant for a camp trailer belonging to Rojas in a Draper storage facility ultimately led detectives to discover Genes' body inside on Monday.
Following the discovery, the scene was processed as a crime scene, and an autopsy confirmed Genes' death as a homicide. The specific cause of death has not yet been released. Police Chief Andrew Burton stated that Rojas could become a suspect if further evidence emerges. Authorities believe the couple's vehicle remains in California, as it has not crossed the border into Mexico.
