Ex-Wife of NFL Star Tyreek Hill Testifies About Alleged Abuse in Miami Court
On Tuesday, Lakeeta Vaccaro, the ex-wife of Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Tyreek Hill, testified in a Miami court regarding alleged abuse she suffered during their marriage. The case has garnered significant attention as it delves into personal and legal issues surrounding one of professional football's most prominent figures.
Vaccaro, 30, took the stand to recount multiple instances of alleged physical and emotional abuse that occurred between her and Hill, who is currently 33 years old. She detailed a series of confrontations where she claims Hill physically assaulted her when they disagreed or did not comply with his demands. "When this defendant did not get his way with Lakeeta, he took the same approach with her that he took in his professional life," said Vaccaro's attorney, Paul Schwiep. "He was violent. He exploded."
The testimony came during a torts trial initiated by Vaccaro against Hill following their divorce proceedings. The suit alleges eight specific instances of abuse, though the most recent and pivotal incident occurred on April 7, 2025, shortly after the birth of their child. Schwiep emphasized that much of the alleged abuse took place behind closed doors without witnesses or physical evidence, making it challenging to substantiate claims with direct proof.
Hill's legal team has denied all allegations of abuse and maintains that he does not face any criminal charges related to these incidents. The case further complicates when Vaccaro mentioned a postnuptial agreement Hill proposed shortly after their marriage in November 2023, which she claimed included an unfair clause stipulating she would receive only $1 for emotional damages.
The trial has brought into sharp focus the broader issue of domestic abuse among high-profile athletes. Schwiep urged jurors to consider the context and patterns of behavior rather than relying solely on physical evidence. "Lakeeta wasn’t trying to build a case," he explained, "she was trying to build a life."
This legal battle highlights not only personal grievances but also raises questions about the responsibilities of professional sports organizations in addressing such issues among their players. As public figures, athletes often face scrutiny over off-field behavior, and this trial could set precedents for how similar cases are handled in the future.
The ongoing proceedings underscore the complexity of high-profile relationships and the challenges faced by individuals seeking justice within a spotlighted environment. The case continues to unfold as both sides present their evidence and arguments before the Miami court.
