Ex-Boyfriend Admits to Killing, Dismembering and Concealing Ex-Girlfriend's Remains in Suitcase
A New York man named Damon Foy has confessed to the murder of his ex-girlfriend, Alberta Dale. The gruesome crime came to light when Dale went missing in April 2024, leading police to search Foy’s Kerhonkson residence. During this investigation, Foy revealed to detectives that he had kept Dale's remains, including her severed head, inside a carry-on suitcase with a flower placed within it.
According to court documents reviewed by Law&Crime, Foy admitted to killing Dale sometime between March 31 and April 1, 2024. The victim’s personal belongings were discovered on the side of the road just one day after her family reported her missing. This prompted law enforcement to visit Foy's apartment, where they initially found only Dale's unoccupied vehicle.
When police returned to question Foy following the discovery of Dale’s phone, they uncovered a suitcase in his closet that appeared unusually heavy for its size. Upon opening it with a warrant, officers discovered Dale’s dismembered remains, including her severed head. The suitcase was also noted to have dried blood on it.
Foy's actions were part of an escalating conflict following the couple's breakup and a history of domestic violence. Foy had previously been subject to a stay-away order of protection due to alleged violent incidents involving Dale. During his confession, Foy expressed feelings of betrayal, stating that Dale played him like "a fool" throughout their relationship.
Investigators found additional evidence at Foy’s apartment, including bone and tissue fragments scattered around the living space, pruning shears, a serrated knife, bloodstains, and an ax. These findings corroborate the severity of the crime committed by Foy against Dale.
In court proceedings last week, Foy pleaded guilty to murder, leading to his expected sentencing on December 16. Under the plea agreement, he faces a prison term ranging from 23 years to life, which is two years less than the maximum sentence of 25 years to life. The prosecution stated that Dale's family supported this deal.
The case highlights the tragic consequences of domestic violence and the importance of protective measures in preventing such incidents. It also underscores the need for thorough investigations into missing persons cases, especially when there are prior threats or indications of danger from former partners.
