Indiana Man Sentenced to 86 Years for Role in Gruesome Car Fire Murder

In September, Randal Moon Jr., a 41-year-old man from Indiana, was convicted of murder and multiple other charges related to the brutal death of Michael Greer, a 58-year-old victim who died after being shot, beaten, wrapped in fabric, and burned alive inside his rental car. On Tuesday, Moon received an 86-year prison sentence for his part in the heinous crime.

The incident occurred on December 14, 2025, around 3:45 a.m., when authorities were alerted to a vehicle fire at a rural field in Delaware County, approximately 60 miles northeast of Indianapolis. As deputies arrived and extinguished the flames, they discovered Greer's lifeless body inside the charred car.

An autopsy revealed that Greer had soot in his lungs, indicating he was still alive when the car caught fire. The victim was initially beaten and shot at a home in Indianapolis before being transported to the rural field where the fatal blaze took place. Moon admitted to driving two of the other suspects back to Indianapolis after the arson.

Moon's conviction stems from charges including murder, arson, kidnapping, obstruction of justice, and conspiracy to commit obstruction of justice. Four additional individuals were also charged with similar offenses in connection with Greer’s death: Amy Singhas, Ameariss Aponte, Megan Sloan, and Tallis McCoy. While Moon was the first to be sentenced, the remaining suspects have upcoming court dates for their respective trials.

Singhas reportedly drove Greer to the field where he met his gruesome end. She had been in a relationship with Greer prior to his death. The motive behind this violent crime remains unclear despite extensive investigations and testimonies from various parties involved.

Greer's family released an obituary highlighting his compassionate nature, stating that "Michael’s presence brought warmth and light to those around him." His tragic demise has left his loved ones devastated and seeking justice for the senseless act of violence against him.

This case underscores the severity of violent crimes in Indiana and highlights the ongoing efforts by law enforcement to bring perpetrators to justice. The extensive charges and lengthy sentence handed down to Moon reflect the gravity with which such acts are viewed within the legal system, aiming to deter similar atrocities from occurring in the future.
