Marine Corps Expands Access to AI-Powered Maven System Across All Networks

The United States Marine Corps has announced a significant expansion of access to the Maven Smart System (MSS), an advanced artificial intelligence platform designed for real-time data analysis and decision support. The new licensing agreement allows all commands, including reserve units, to utilize MSS through any applicable network within their authorized domains.

"This enterprise licensing provides all assigned and attached personnel at any echelon within the specified commands the ability to gain MSS accounts," stated a Marine Corps announcement last week. This move represents a substantial upgrade from previous restrictions that limited access to specific commands via the Secret Internet Protocol Router Network (SIPRNet).

Developed by Palantir Technologies, Maven is an AI-enabled software platform that aggregates and analyzes data from various sources such as intelligence reports, drone video feeds, satellite imagery, and maps. The system supports real-time decision-making for commanders and analysts across different military services and allied nations.

The Department of Defense highlighted the effectiveness of Maven in identifying and targeting over 2,000 distinct targets in Iran within the first four days of Operation Epic Fury. Additionally, the system processes approximately six million pages of text daily to support intelligence and operational workflows.

Prior to this expansion, the Marine Corps had provided access and training to dozens of units through a limited rollout in August 2025. The service also noted that around 5,500 Marines utilized Maven in just one month before the new agreement was signed. To further streamline operations, the Marines replaced their manual process for filing Situational Reports with a Maven application.

The Marine Corps is now encouraging commands to designate an MSS implementation lead within their organization and has made training materials available on the secure website Intelink. The service will publish additional guidance, including an MSS Implementation Plan, in separate communications.

This expansion underscores the growing reliance on AI technologies for military operations and intelligence analysis, reflecting a broader trend across the Department of Defense towards integrating advanced software solutions to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.
