BCLP Bolsters Chicago Litigation Practice with Top White-Collar Defense Attorney
BCLP recently announced the addition of Katie Hausfeld to its Litigation & Investigations Practice, joining the firm's Chicago office. Hausfeld brings extensive experience in high-stakes corporate matters, including white-collar defense, corporate investigations, and compliance. Her expertise encompasses advising U.S. and multinational companies facing inquiries from major agencies such as the U.S. Department of Justice, the Securities and Exchange Commission, and the World Bank.
Hausfeld's background includes conducting numerous global investigations into issues like fraud, corruption, bribery, money laundering, and executive misconduct. She also specializes in developing and strengthening compliance frameworks for organizations, designing risk-based programs to address anti-corruption and anti-money laundering requirements. Prior to BCLP, Hausfeld served as a Partner and Co-Chair of Global Compliance at DLA Piper, where her practice was predominantly corporate, with an even split between international and domestic cases, and civil and criminal matters.
Despite a perceived downturn in corporate crime enforcement in some regions, Hausfeld notes that Chicago experiences similar trends to the East Coast, with a continued focus on compliance. She anticipates a potential increase in False Claims Act cases, particularly from the life sciences, healthcare, and emerging AI sectors. Hausfeld also highlights her active involvement in pro bono work, focusing on immigration and human rights, and her leadership role within the Women's White Collar Defense Association.
