Florida Man Jailed After Allegedly Threatening Car Wash Staff with Axe
A 36-year-old man faces charges after reportedly threatening employees at a Gainesville, Florida car wash with an axe. Bryce Thayer arrived at the Tidal Wave Car Wash as it was closing, becoming agitated when turned away. He then allegedly brandished an axe at staff members.
Car wash employee Leodan Pino, 18, stated Thayer was behaving erratically upon arrival, asking about his wife. Pino, who has mixed martial arts training and recently enlisted in the military, and another worker tackled Thayer to the ground, disarming him. They held him until police arrived. Authorities reportedly found a meth pipe on Thayer during their search. Security footage and witness statements corroborate the employees' accounts.
Thayer is currently held on a $65,000 bond. He faces two counts of assault with a deadly weapon and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia.
