New Hampshire Father Faces Felony Charges After Infant Found With Dozens of Fractures

A 36-year-old Nashua man, Drew Babcock, remains in custody without bail following his arrest on eight felony counts of first-degree assault. Authorities apprehended Babcock on March 13 after medical professionals discovered that his three-month-old son had sustained over 30 fractures throughout his body. The injuries came to light when the infant’s grandmother took the child to a doctor for cold symptoms, prompting an immediate notification to the state’s Division of Children, Youth and Families.

During the subsequent investigation, prosecutors revealed that Babcock admitted to physically abusing the infant due to frustration over the child’s colic. The father allegedly confessed to squeezing the baby’s chest and punching him in the back on multiple occasions, claiming he lost control of his temper. While the child is currently hospitalized with serious injuries, medical staff believe the wounds are not life-threatening. During court proceedings, the defense suggested the infant’s bruising may be linked to a lack of vitamin supplements, but the judge ordered Babcock to remain held without bail and prohibited any contact with the victim.
