Wisconsin Man Faces Attempted Murder Charges After Setting Estranged Wife’s Home Ablaze
Nicholas Grundman, 47, is currently in custody at the Outagamie County Jail on a $1 million cash bond following his arrest for an arson attack on his estranged wife’s Greenville residence. Authorities allege that Grundman set fire to the home’s attached garage in the early hours of March 19 while his wife slept inside. The victim was alerted to the danger by her cat and managed to extinguish the flames before they consumed the entire structure. She escaped the incident physically unharmed along with her pets.
The investigation reveals a pattern of escalating harassment leading up to the fire. After the victim filed for divorce in February and requested that Grundman vacate the premises, he reportedly bombarded her with persistent phone calls and texts. During a final confrontation on the day of the blaze, Grundman allegedly told his wife that if he could not have her, no one would. Following his arrest at a construction site, where he was found in possession of a loaded handgun, Grundman admitted to using gasoline to ignite the garage. He now faces multiple felony charges, including attempted first-degree intentional homicide, arson, and stalking.
