Pentagon Claims Iranian Military Infrastructure Neutralized Following Five-Week Campaign
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Dan Caine announced that Operation Epic Fury has effectively dismantled Iran’s defense industrial base and combat capabilities. During a Pentagon briefing on Wednesday, officials stated that U.S. forces struck approximately 90 percent of Iranian weapons factories, including all facilities responsible for producing Shahed drones and associated guidance systems. The military campaign, which spanned 38 days, reportedly resulted in the destruction of 80 percent of Iran’s air defense systems, the sinking of the majority of its naval fleet, and significant damage to its ballistic missile and nuclear infrastructure.
This assessment follows the implementation of a two-week ceasefire brokered by Pakistan, which halted hostilities late Tuesday. While the U.S. leadership maintains that Iran’s capacity to reconstitute its military power has been set back for years, some independent analysts urge caution regarding these figures. Experts suggest that comprehensive combat assessments are still required to determine the true extent of the damage and whether Iran retains hidden stockpiles or the ability to rapidly resupply. Despite the current pause in fighting, military officials emphasized that U.S. forces remain fully prepared to resume operations if the ceasefire fails or if they are ordered to engage again.
