Ohio Murder Trial for Caleb Flynn Faces Brief Postponement Following Prosecution Request
The murder trial of 39-year-old Caleb Flynn, who stands accused of killing his wife, Ashley Flynn, in their home this past February, has been pushed back by four days. Prosecutors requested the brief continuance after receiving a late expert report on April 11. Although Ohio law mandates that such reports be submitted at least 21 days before trial, the state argued that the short delay remains well within the bounds of speedy trial requirements and would not negatively impact the defense. Judge Jeannine Pratt ultimately granted the motion, despite objections from the defense team, who noted that the state was aware of the scheduling deadlines when they initially set the trial date.
Caleb Flynn faces charges of murder and tampering with evidence in connection to the February 16 shooting. Investigators allege that Flynn used a 9 mm handgun to kill his wife before attempting to stage the scene to look like a home invasion, a claim he initially made during his call to emergency services. While the defense recently withdrew a motion for a gag order, the legal proceedings continue to move forward rapidly. The court has not yet announced a revised start date for the trial, which carries the possibility of a life sentence for the defendant if he is found guilty.
