Random Violence Claims Gentle Giant at Maryland Train Station

A 61-year-old man, identified as Stanley Hutchinson III, was brutally attacked and killed at the Addison Road Metro station in Prince George's County, Maryland, on April 16. According to authorities, Hutchinson was en route to work when he was ambushed by Nocholas Duncan, a 30-year-old man who allegedly used a metal pipe to beat him to death. The attack occurred around 5 a.m., and investigators believe it was random, as the two men did not appear to know each other prior to the incident.

Duncan is charged with first- and second-degree murder. Surveillance footage reviewed by law enforcement shows Duncan retrieving the metal pipe from his bag and striking Hutchinson multiple times in the head, causing him to fall unconscious on the ground. After the initial attack, Duncan allegedly poured an "unknown liquid" over Hutchinson and continued to stomp on him before fleeing the scene.

Hutchinson was described as a "gentle giant" by family members and friends, known for his kind nature and dedication to his loved ones. His death has shocked the community, highlighting the tragic consequences of random violence. Authorities arrested Duncan at a nearby bus stop, where he was found with stains on his clothing and shoes, believed to be blood. He is currently jailed without bond and faces a preliminary hearing on May 18.

This case underscores the harsh reality of senseless violence in public spaces, leaving many to reflect on the need for greater safety measures and community awareness. As details continue to unfold, the loss of Hutchinson, a hardworking individual, leaves a profound impact on those who knew him.
