U.S. Deploys Three Aircraft Carriers to Middle East for First Time Since 2003

The U.S. Navy has deployed three aircraft carriers—USS Abraham Lincoln, USS Gerald R. Ford, and USS George H.W. Bush—to the Middle East for the first time since 2003, marking a significant escalation in naval presence in the region. This move underscores the growing tensions between the United States and Iran, particularly amid concerns over shipping activities in the Strait of Hormuz.

The deployment includes over 15,000 sailors and Marines, along with more than 200 advanced aircraft capable of electronic warfare, stealth strikes, and other combat operations. The carriers are accompanied by supporting vessels, including destroyers and logistics ships, bringing a formidable force to the area. While the exact duration of this deployment is unclear, it reflects an increased focus on regional stability and potential conflicts.

The U.S. has also implemented a blockade targeting Iranian shipping, redirecting 34 vessels so far. This action, part of broader efforts to counter Iran's influence, was announced alongside the carrier deployment. The presence of such a large naval contingent highlights the strategic importance of the Middle East for global maritime security and signals a possible shift in U.S. military strategy in the region.
