Turkey Unveils Scalpel-Like 'Neşter' Precision Weapon
The Turkish defense company Roketsan has unveiled its latest precision-guided munition, the Neşter, at the SAHA 2026 International Defense and Aerospace Exhibition in Istanbul. Designed to minimize collateral damage while maximizing targeting accuracy, the Neşter features a unique array of pop-out, sword-like blades, inspired by the secretive AGM-114R9X variant of the Hellfire missile. This innovative weapon system, named after the Turkish word for "scalpel," represents a significant advancement in precision strike capabilities.
The Neşter is a derivative of Roketsan's MAM-L ("lightweight smart micro-munition"), which has become synonymous with the Turkish Bayraktar TB2 drone. The compact and versatile design of the MAM-L allows it to be integrated onto both unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and light attack aircraft, making it a key asset in modern conflict zones. The Neşter's development marks a further evolution in this lineage, with its blade-like structure enabling precise, controlled strikes that avoid unintended harm to surrounding areas.
Already established in conflicts such as Syria, Libya, Ukraine, and the Armenia-Azerbaijan clash, Roketsan's MAM-L has proven its effectiveness on the battlefield. The introduction of the Neşter at SAHA 2026 highlights Turkey's growing capabilities in advanced defense technology, positioning it as a self-reliant power in military innovation. This new weapon system not only underscores Turkey's commitment to precision warfare but also signals potential export opportunities for Roketsan on the global stage.
