Historic Ruling: High School Teams Compete at National Archives for Supreme Court Title

The Harlan Institute recently concluded its Fourteenth Annual Virtual Supreme Court Competition, marking a significant milestone by celebrating America's 250th Anniversary. The event featured the case of *Patriots v. Loyalists*, challenging high school students to delve into American history and argue persuasively for or against independence.

The championship round took place at the prestigious National Archives, where the Declaration of Independence, Constitution, and Bill of Rights are permanently displayed. This setting added profound historical context to the competition. Teams from Creekview High School in Texas and Greenwich High School in Connecticut showcased their legal prowess, with Team #24358 emerging victorious. Lauren Hohltand Tzur Shalit were declared champions, while Diana Davidson earned recognition as the best oralist.

The event not only honored historical milestones but also provided a unique educational experience for participants. It was the first time since 1776 that the pro-Loyalist argument was presented before the Declaration, offering students a deeper understanding of foundational legal principles. The competition concluded with gratitude to organizers and volunteers who made this historic event possible.
