Texas Man Accused of Stalking Border Patrol Agent Ex-Girlfriend with Drone

A Texas man has been accused of stalking his ex-girlfriend, a U.S. Border Patrol agent, by using a drone to spy on her home and threatening to return despite legal consequences. Cristobal Gonzalez faces charges including stalking, theft of property, and criminal trespass after allegedly following the victim to her residence in El Paso, Texas, on May 23.

Deputies responded to a family violence call at around 7:30 a.m., where the victim reported that Gonzalez had damaged her property and threatened her life. Surveillance footage revealed that Gonzalez used a drone to monitor the home prior to his arrest. During the incident, when the victim answered the door wearing her CBP uniform, she was visibly distressed and recounted how Gonzalez's vehicle had been parked outside her house as she returned from work with their child.

The victim told investigators that she feared for her life based on previous encounters with Gonzalez. She had armed herself with a firearm issued by her employer in anticipation of an attack but managed to keep him out of the home. Law enforcement officials found a drone and its controller during a search warrant execution on Gonzalez's vehicle.

While being arrested, Gonzalez reportedly invoked his Fifth Amendment rights and later stated in custody that he would "be back" because "the laws are pointless." He was booked into El Paso County Detention Facility with a bond of $27,000.
