Boeing Employees Among Victims in Deadly B-52 Crash at California Air Base
A B-52 Stratofortress bomber crashed shortly after takeoff from Edwards Air Force Base in California on Monday morning, resulting in the deaths of all eight individuals aboard. Two of the victims were employees of aerospace giant Boeing, which confirmed their identities and stated it was offering support to their families.
The aircraft, one of the oldest bombers still in service with the U.S. military, was participating in a routine test mission as part of the radar modernization program when the incident occurred. The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Air Force. Edwards Deputy Commander Col. James Hayes announced that base operations would be suspended for at least one day to address runway damage caused by the accident.
Boeing has had a long-standing role in maintaining and upgrading the B-52 fleet since initial production began in the 1950s. The company continues to play a crucial part in keeping these aircraft operational through various modernization efforts, ensuring they remain relevant until at least 2050.
