Kentucky Couple Arrested After Police Find Drugs in Bag Labeled 'Definitely Not Drugs'
A couple from Laurel County, Kentucky, was recently arrested after law enforcement discovered illegal substances inside a bag labeled "deffntely not a bag full full of drugs." According to local authorities, the incident occurred when deputies noticed a vehicle parked illegally in an employees-only area and approached for investigation. During their interaction with Tricia Croley, 51, and Damon Bennett, 48, it was alleged that Croley presented another person's identification and two bags—one containing contraband and the other tablets.
Upon searching the vehicle, deputies reportedly found a bag clearly marked on its exterior with what appeared to be an intentional misspelling of "definitely." Inside this bag were various controlled substances including leafy green material believed to be marijuana, a crystal-like substance thought to be methamphetamine, along with drug paraphernalia. The couple was subsequently arrested and charged with multiple offenses.
In addition to the possession charges, Croley faced additional allegations of providing false identification to law enforcement officers during the encounter. Bennett had outstanding failure-to-appear warrants that were also addressed at the time of their arrest. As a result of these incidents, both individuals have been detained pending further legal proceedings. Croley's arraignment is scheduled for June 22.
This case highlights ongoing challenges faced by local law enforcement in identifying and addressing drug-related crimes within their jurisdictions, often encountering creative but ineffective attempts to conceal illicit activities.
