Minnesota Man Faces Murder Charges in Camper Death Investigation

A Minnesota man now faces murder charges following the discovery of a woman's body in her camper last year. Stanley Alan Munstermann, 69, was arrested and charged on February 26 with two counts of second-degree murder and one count of manslaughter in connection with the death of 63-year-old Barbara McBride-Law. McBride-Law was found deceased on August 30, 2025, at a Wabasha County campground. Munstermann's arraignment is scheduled for Monday.

Investigators determined Munstermann had been staying with McBride-Law in the days leading up to her death. Surveillance footage shows him arriving on August 28 and departing early on the morning of August 30, the day her body was discovered. When contacted by authorities on August 31, Munstermann claimed he had blacked out from drinking on August 29 and did not recall entering or leaving McBride-Law's camper. He stated he "came to" while driving on Interstate 90 around 3:30 a.m. and continued to Nebraska to visit his girlfriend.

Court documents reveal Munstermann made several concerning statements to witnesses after McBride-Law's death, including telling one individual he believed he had killed someone but could not remember. He reportedly made similar remarks during a phone call on August 30, expressing fear of himself and stating he thought he had left someone badly hurt. An autopsy later confirmed McBride-Law died from homicidal violence, despite police initially observing no obvious trauma to her body.
