US Forces Incinerate Iranian Drone Carrier Amid Escalating Strikes
US Central Command (CENTCOM) reports the destruction of a significant Iranian drone carrier, described as comparable in size to a World War II aircraft carrier, which is currently ablaze. This incident marks a critical escalation in Operation Epic Fury, a joint US-Israeli military campaign against Iran that commenced early Saturday morning. Admiral Brad Cooper, CENTCOM commander, confirmed the strike during a press briefing at MacDill Air Force Base, highlighting the ongoing efforts to dismantle Iran's naval and drone capabilities.
The destruction of the drone carrier follows a series of intense US military actions, including the sinking or disabling of over 30 Iranian naval vessels. In the past 72 hours, American bombers have targeted nearly 200 sites deep within Iran, including locations near Tehran, and B-2 bombers recently deployed 2,000-pound penetrative bombs on buried ballistic missile launchers. These strikes also hit Iran's "Space Command" equivalent, signaling a broad assault on the nation's military infrastructure.
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth indicated that the "firepower over Iran and over Tehran is about to surge dramatically," with more fighter squadrons and bomber pulses expected. CENTCOM's mission, as tasked by President Donald Trump, focuses on leveling Iran's ballistic missile industrial base and dismantling its future missile production capabilities. Cooper noted a significant decline in Iran's offensive operations, with ballistic missile attacks decreasing by 90% and drone attacks by 83% since the operation's inception, as the US aims to destroy Iran's ability to rebuild its military assets.
