Former ISIS Supporter, Ex-National Guard Member, Identified in Deadly ODU Shooting
Mohamed Bailor Jalloh, a 27-year-old former U.S. Army National Guard member with a past conviction for attempting to support ISIS, is identified as the suspect in a fatal shooting at Old Dominion University. The incident resulted in one death and two injuries within a classroom, with the shooter also found deceased at the scene. Jalloh had pleaded guilty in 2016 to the terror-related charges and was released from an 11-year prison sentence in December 2024.
The victims of the shooting included members of the Army Reserve Officers’ Training Corps, adding a layer of concern given Jalloh's military background and previous conviction. The university has responded by canceling all classes and operations, and is offering counseling services to students grappling with the aftermath of the tragedy. Investigations are ongoing to determine the full circumstances surrounding the event and any potential motives.
