U.S. and Israel Escalate "Epic Fury" Against Iran as Drone Strikes Plummet
U.S. and Israeli forces are intensifying their military campaign, Operation Epic Fury, against Iran, with defense officials reporting a dramatic 95% reduction in Iranian one-way attack drone activity. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth announced on Friday that the joint operation is "ramping up," with today marking the highest volume of strikes yet over Iran and Tehran. This escalation, initiated by President Donald Trump on February 28, aims to dismantle Iran's leadership, ballistic missile and drone capabilities, naval power, and nuclear infrastructure.
Hegseth, alongside Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Dan Caine, stated that Iran's air defenses, air force, and navy are effectively neutralized, with their missiles and drones being destroyed. Iranian missile volume has decreased by 90%, and drone attacks are down 95%. The U.S. has targeted over 6,000 sites so far, focusing on Iran's defense industrial base and its capacity to disrupt maritime traffic near the Strait of Hormuz.
Despite the reported success in degrading Iranian capabilities, questions persist regarding the full impact on Iran's weapons arsenal and the total U.S. military casualties. Approximately 200 U.S. service members have been wounded, with 10 seriously injured, while public reports indicate at least 13 U.S. service members have died during the two-week operation. Operation Epic Fury continues to employ advanced AI, cyber, space, and electronic warfare tools as the mission remains complex and dangerous.
