Israel Strikes Iranian Gas Infrastructure in Coordinated Operation with U.S.
The regional energy conflict intensified on Wednesday as Israeli airstrikes targeted critical natural gas infrastructure in southwestern Iran. The operation struck the South Pars gas field, a massive facility shared with Qatar, as well as the Asaluyeh petrochemical complex. Senior Israeli officials confirmed the strikes, noting that the mission was carried out with the explicit approval and coordination of the Trump administration. U.S. defense officials have since corroborated this involvement, signaling a significant escalation in the ongoing regional military tensions.
Iranian state-affiliated media reported that emergency response teams were dispatched to the site to combat fires resulting from the bombardment. While the full extent of the damage remains under assessment, analysts suggest the strikes were surgically aimed at sulfur recovery units and other essential refinery components. Such damage could potentially cripple Iran’s processing capabilities for an extended period. The attack has drawn sharp condemnation from Qatar, which labeled the move a dangerous provocation. As Tehran orders the evacuation of various petrochemical sites, the strike marks a pivotal shift in the conflict, moving beyond military targets to directly threaten the economic backbone of the Iranian energy sector.
