Judge Rebukes Attorneys as Tensions Rise in Clenney Murder Case
A Florida judge issued a stern warning to legal teams during a heated pretrial hearing for Courtney Clenney, the OnlyFans model accused of second-degree murder in the 2022 stabbing death of her boyfriend, Christian Obumseli. Judge Andrea Wolfson interrupted the proceedings to demand that the courtroom not be turned into a "telenovela" as attorneys clashed over the scope of evidence. The dispute centered on the prosecution’s attempt to access a shared iCloud account belonging to Clenney and her parents, with the defense arguing that the state is conducting an invasive, overbroad fishing expedition into private data.
The conflict highlights the ongoing legal complexities surrounding the case, which has already involved separate criminal charges against Clenney’s parents for alleged computer crimes, though those charges were eventually dropped. While Judge Wolfson ultimately restricted the prosecution's access to a specific timeframe—narrowing the scope from three years down to approximately sixteen months—the parties remained deadlocked over the types of records subject to review. Prosecutors maintain that the data is vital for understanding communications involving key witnesses, specifically Clenney's mother, who was reportedly on the phone during the incident. With the trial set to commence in late April, the court has scheduled a status hearing for early next month to resolve the remaining evidentiary disputes.
